It is with great pleasure that I welcome to you the newest and best iteration of the Joe the Circle’s web infrastructure, currently sprawling before your eyeballs: Joe website 3J!* The latest site brings Joe the Circle to a new technological heights, specifically the height of not being broken. This may not seem like much, but believe me when I say it’s a vast improvement over the recent status quo. <\/p>\n
Additionally, the new site will feature an element that has been notably missing for several years, namely actual new issues of Joe the Circle! It has been pointed out, sometimes in censurial tones, that the promise that the next issue of Joe would be out in September, 2002 was not, precisely speaking, fufilled. To such comments we can only respond: hey, look at that cat over there! At which point we run away. Look; as Joe himself might put it, this is not an occasion for dwelling on vague ethical antiquities such as “timeliness” or “accountability”, but an occasion of celebration! So let us break open the 205-proof Zorellian gin and spread the cheer like fire through a housing project with substandard insulation.<\/p>\n

What can you expect at the new site? At first glance, the content might seem fairly modest, a mere subset of the features offered by the sprawling prior site. It might seem this way at second glance as well, and possibly at all glances for the next few months. You see, we’ve been downplaying the extras and goodies, focusing on getting something basic and operational up and running. Eventually we will reinstate the prior sites’ most popular features: a full back issue archive, the Magic 9-Ball, a gallery of reader-created tribute strips and animations, and of course the nefarious Ask Doctor Joe. But for now, we’re going to focus on storylines. Or at least, what passes around here for storylines.<\/p>\n
A final paragraph of thanks is in order to some of the many people who helped make this site possible and\/or somewhat less untimely than it might have been. Firstly, the Joe beta-testers, who scoured the site, offered feedback, and occasionally provided php code: QuantumP, Ananda Daydream, Highfructose, Neo, Simon Jester, the Masked Platypus, Garavello, Ceoblk, Mostly Harmless, and Rhizod. (Don’t look at me; those are the names they picked for the message board.) Secondly, the creators of WordPress, the mighty engine beneath the excitement you see before you; as well as someone named Alex with no apparent last name, who designed the template of which this site is a mangled derivative. Finally and mostly, there is longtime Joe assistant Amanda Schroeder, to whose graphic wizardry, can-do attitude, and erratic sleep schedule I am extremely indebted.

\nSo welcome to both our new readers and loyalists who, for some reason, are still here after years of neglect. The foundation is now in place for a new future of Joe that will nourish your hunger for sci-fi comic mayhem, while at the same time making you ravenous for more!** Enjoy the new site!<\/p>\n
